How to Use Veil

This guide follows the real working order. Even first-time users can complete a full flow step by step.

1. Upload Files

Start by adding the images or PDF files you want to process.

  1. Drag files into the upload area, or click the area to choose files.
  2. Supported formats: PNG, JPG, WebP, and PDF. Max 50MB per file.
  3. After upload, you will enter the editing workspace automatically.

2. Choose Tools and Edit

Pick the right tool for each case, then handle the most obvious sensitive parts first.

  1. Redaction tools: Mosaic, Blur, and Cover for phone numbers, IDs, faces, and more.
  2. Annotation tools: Arrow, Rectangle, Text, Highlight, and Step Number for explanations.
  3. Hold Space to pan the canvas. Use wheel or gestures to zoom for detail work.

3. Run Auto Detection

When you're not sure where sensitive info appears, detection saves time.

  1. Click Detect in the top bar to scan common sensitive content.
  2. After scanning, you'll see total candidates and pending items.
  3. You can process all at once, or review each item one by one.

4. Review Item by Item

Item review reduces misses and is useful for high-accuracy workflows.

  1. Use the review panel to inspect each candidate's position and type.
  2. Choose Accept when redaction is needed, or Skip when it's not.
  3. When all items are handled, the panel will show completion.

5. Export Results

Before exporting, do one final check to ensure key sensitive areas are covered.

  1. Click Export and choose format, quality, and filename.
  2. For multiple images, enable ZIP export for one-time delivery.
  3. After export, click Back to Upload to start your next task.

Helpful Tips

  • Zoom in before editing for cleaner edges and fewer mistakes.
  • Run detection first, then fix manually. It's usually faster than pure manual work.
  • Before export, quickly check thumbnails to avoid missing pages.
  • If content is sensitive, avoid sharing original files directly.
